Shane Ballard is a Brooklyn based Costume Designer and Visual Artist whose work intersects a range of creative industries. A storyteller at heart, he references historical fashion, the emerging zeitgeist, visual art and pop-culture… to invent provocative theatrical worlds through costume. He was a part of the costume design team and Costume Concept Artist for NBC’s Emmy Award winning production The Wiz Live. His work can also be seen on HBO’s The Immortal Life Of Henrietta Lacks with Oprah Winfrey. His costume design credits include: An Octoroon for Rutgers Theater Company, Madame Infamy for The NY Musical Theater Festival, One Day at 3LD Art and Technology Center, Oliver The Musical at El Museo del Barrio and Inappropriate at The Odyssey Theater, Los Angeles. Assistant Design for Skeleton Crew at The Atlantic Theater directed by Ruben Santiago-Hudson. He currently teaches Costume Design and Illustration at Rutgers University, Mason Gross School Of The Arts. Ballard is a proud member of United Scenic Artists Local 829.
